Homage to Tarrega and Albeniz

It is with great regret that I inform you there will be no City ofDerry Guitar Festival this year 2009. However, the festival will be back next year August 2010 with a very strong programme indeed, so do keep in touch for updates on events.In the meantime and for your convenience there will be a one day event commemorating 100 years since the passing of two great Spanish composers;Francisco Tarrega (1852-1909), Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909)

This one day event will comprise of a morning master class by Carlos Bonell, which participants are encouraged to play a piece that is Spanish in nature. (But not essential)   There will also be a lecture/recital on the life of Tarrega and Albeniz, together with discussion and demonstration on playing techniques used in their compositions and arrangements. This will be given by Graham Wade and Sean Woods (guitar).

Graham Wade has just released `Francisco Tarrega, His Life and Music on DVD and he is currently working on the new DVD Isaac Albeniz of the same title with Stanley Yates (guitar). This is a must have for all guitarists.

The day will be rounded off with an evening recital by Carlos Bonell, featuring the music of Tarrega and Albeniz with other Spanish greats. You then are all invited back to the City Hotel where you can engage Carlos and Graham over drinks for some real guitar talk…
